Common Questions
-
Will my dog enjoy training?
All dogs thrive in a structured routine combined with proper leadership. Providing these for your dog will unlock a new level of connection that you may have never thought possible. Not only will your dog enjoy training, you will too!
-
There are so many trainers in DFW, why is DDC different?
Most trainers who specialize in home-based lessons are dependent on hiring out the training in order to focus on selling the service. The client will never know the difference in the level of expertise between the guy you spoke with on the phone and the kid that shows up at your house. At Denton Dog Coach you will only communicate and work with Chad and Sara. We are a family-based business with a focused interest in connecting with you and your dog on the highest possible level.
-
Do you accept all breeds?
Yes we do. All dogs regardless of breed or age will benefit from private training lessons! Large, small, young and old!
-
Will my dog be punished during training?
Harsh, mean, or punishment-based training tactics are still rampant in pet training. We have found a way to preserve the dog’s trust and have our dogs LOVE to work with us. We feel that the dog’s role as a house companion requires a safe and trusting relationship. There is no room for fear or intimidation in our opinion. We guide you both to success through routine and incentives- not fear or punishment.
-
How long is each lesson?
Within 60 minutes, here’s what you can expect: we first connect with you, the owner, to understand the scope of your goals and get a grip of the dynamics between you and your furry friend. We then spend the bulk of our lesson teaching and demonstrating boundaries and exercises for you both to practice as often as possible. Consistency is KING! Practicing daily is crucial for success. We will provide training routines that are exciting and fun for you both!

How many lessons does it take to have my dog "fully trained"?
The notion of achieving a permanent level of training in a predetermined time-frame is unrealistic. Dogs, like humans, are always changing and training a dog is a perpetual effort. Typically, after 4 lessons the owners have an adequate understanding of how to maintain the training unassisted. However, when you realize the magic of communicating with your dog in a new way and realize how much your dog loves to train, you’ll likely want to go further! Seasonal tune-ups are extremely valuable. Dog training is like music: there is no end only MORE!
